Corvid Financial - Notice of Default and Recovery (Magellan) Draft

An in-world prop from Shackleton Magellan’s background. Corvid’s recovery file on a debtor who skipped the system, in the patient hand of the man working it. The Asset Recovery Notice analogue: the debt made into a person who is coming.

The document (in-world)

CORVID FINANCIAL /// RECOVERY DIVISION
INTERNAL FILE — HANDLING AGENT ONLY
──────────────────────────────────────────────
ACCOUNT IN DEFAULT — RECOVERY OPEN
Acct: CF/EXPED/MAGELLAN Status: SKIPPED

DEBTOR ....... MAGELLAN, freelance surveyor. M, ~43,
lean, restless, dark hair greying at
               the temple, rad-weathered. Talks
               easily and trusts easily. Squints.
               Hands never still.
PRINCIPAL .... Expedition financing. Full underwrite,
against a claim the debtor was "sure"
was out past the charted lanes. Corvid
likes sure. Corvid was wrong to.
LOSS EVENT ... The venture was boarded and stripped
mid-run. Hold gone, claim gone, ship
most gone. The debtor survived it and
the note did not die with the payday.
He could not cover a tenth. He ran.

RECOVERY POSTURE (handling agent's note)
I am not in a hurry and neither is the balance.
Interest keeps working while he sleeps. He is not
a violent man and not a runner by temperament, he
is a curious one, and a curious man cannot leave a
mystery alone. He will surface where there is
something to find. Watch the anomalies, not the
exits. He comes to me eventually. They always do.

I want the man able to work, not damaged. A broke
surveyor who can still survey is a repayment plan.
A dead one is a write-down. Handle accordingly.

CONTACT
Route through the Division, my reference below.
Do not approach the debtor. He is mine to close.
