OmniStar Broadcasting
Goals
Overview
The largest news network in the Federal Republic. OmniStar operates numerous stations and broadcasting platforms throughout the Federal Republic. Stations can vary, from a full operation with their own reporters and on air personalities, to a simple repeater setup to broadcast reports it receives from other locations
Since information can only flow as fast as a ship travels, or in extreme cases the speed it can traverse the hyperspace lanes, the company operates mostly as a local operation. News about the local system the station is operating in usually leads the reports. Republic wide news is usually a delayed report read by the anchors, or a pre-recorded feature shared across the network, but out of date.
The network employs a number of independent correspondents and reporters over the Federal Republic to fill out it’s operation. These reporters are paid by the viewership on a story, so they are more apt to look for reports that will carry the largest audience. The network is required to carry all Federal Republic Bulletins, these commonly take less of a focus than the popular sensational news.
