Perihelion

city

Overview

A city built near the point that remains more often closest to the star, as it is the one place with less extreme variations in weather due to the eccentric orbit. The city is vast as a majority of the population lives within it’s protected borders. While open air, the city contains multiple systems to modify the climate, especially in the better off sections. Giant heaters and coolers adjust the temperature to keep it in a comfortable level. Shades and covers protect from the sudden arrival of rain or snow, while misters spray water on hot dry days.

The city is know for the celebration of The Zenith, a day where the orbit of the planet reaches an equilibrium between weather creating what locals consider the most perfect weather. The celebration is highlighted by the limited use of the systems used to moderate the extreme weather. Locals companies, politicians, influencers, rich, and celebrities use this celebration in an attempt to garner approval for the populace toward the next elections. Many a career has begun, or ended based on the the results.
