Overview
Toller Vance works security at the Nova Nexus, and on the day it mattered he wanted exactly one thing, which was for Six to become someone else’s problem.
Six came at him pushing for access to the fighting pits. Whether Vance knew where the pits actually ran is anyone’s guess, and probably he did not. What he had was a bored man’s instinct for making a pushy stranger go away. He pointed the crew at Section 102 and a door with an orange handle and let them believe it meant something. The door opened on a dead emergency corridor, all dust and nothing, and tripped a station-wide alarm on the way. When the crew came back for him he shrugged it off. The rings must have moved. Terrible luck. Now get out.
It was a small, lazy move, and it may have been nothing more than a brush-off from a man who knew nothing. It still made him an enemy. Six has not forgotten. Vance almost certainly has.
Motivations & Secrets
Wanted Six gone with the least possible effort. The fake lead was a brush-off, not a plan. It is entirely possible Vance knew nothing about where the fights actually ran, and simply pointed at the first door that would send a pushy stranger walking.
