Grazer Rifle
Current Holder: Six (unlocked) and Ronin Sanchez (still biometrically locked)
Origin: Carried by the 17th-floor guards at the Firetemic Tower; same pattern as the Kinetic Logistics grazer pistols
Overview
The Kinetic-pattern grazer in rifle form. The 17th-floor guards at the Firetemic Tower carried them, and one of them put shots into Six’s torso that went through DR 100 space armor and left scorched craters across his chest plate. The weapon’s reputation for punching through anything the Republic makes held.
Two were recovered from the dead: one slung by Six off the guard he killed, one taken by Ronin Sanchez off the guard he shot. Both came biometrically locked to their dead owners. Rock Lavey removed the lock on Six’s rifle in Session 11, and that one now fires. That is a change from the pistols, which Shackleton Magellan judged hand-built with no security grips at all. Same physics, different generation or different supplier.
Properties
Book line for the TL12 graser rifle in GURPS Ultra-Tech (UT118), as already recorded on the PC sheets: 5d(10) burn sur, Acc 12, RoF 10, 83(5) on a D cell, ST 7, Bulk −4, LC2, with the same atmospheric range ceiling as the pistol (70/200 yards in air). Six’s unit fires since Rock Lavey beat its lock in Session 11. Ronin’s stays locked until the same is done for it.
Appearances
- Session 8 (Session 08 - A Crappy Plan Comes Together) — Fired at Six; two recovered, locked. See The Firetemic Tower Raid.
- Session 10 (Session 10 - Six Shooters and Four Arms) — Still biometrically locked. The crew discussed unlocking the rifles before the drive south and left them unusable.
- Session 11 — Rock Lavey removed the biometric lock on the rifle Six carries. That one now fires.
- Session 11 - The Cost of a Clone’s Life — The lock came off during the jump to Katha. Rock Lavey made the roll and Shackleton Magellan burned his Gizmos to help him make it (confirmed by Ant; the session export credits Shackleton alone).
