Aethel Safety Bureau

Territory: Aethel and its sewers, on the planetary side of the starport boundary

Overview

The planetary security force of Aethel. Its officers are armored and disciplined, wear badges, and carry sonic stunners and blaster rifles. They work in four-person squads, field small circular security drones with searchlights, and bring heavier tools when a job calls for them: a gas-dispenser tube pushed through a tunnel wall, a maintenance drill on a tractor. Their jurisdiction is planetary. The federal side of Aethel Starport answers to federal law.

In Session 9 a Bureau squad hunted the crew through the Aethel City Sewers after the Firetemic Tower raid. Rock Lavey intercepted their signals: the crew were listed as persons of interest, true identities unknown. The only clear image the Bureau held showed Six in full body armor carrying another person out of the Firetemic Tower.

That evening the local news credited four Bureau officers with dismantling an underground smuggling operation run by The Bamboo Union, its tunnel network found on a routine patrol, and mentioned one officer’s knee injury. The crew’s tunnel and the Hidden Basement are the subjects of that report.

Goals & Methods

Patrol the city, hold the perimeter between the sewers and the starport, and identify the people behind the Firetemic Tower break-in. Methods on display: drone sweeps, tactical squad advances, blaster fire on a suspect’s gear, gas into a sealed tunnel.
