Overview

A digital access key Roselyn Monroe handed to Shackleton Magellan after installing the Federal Transponder. It opens a restricted network of unofficial, potentially illegal job postings from various systems. Monroe told the crew she expected them to come when she called, and wished them luck with the weary tone of someone who doubted they would need it.

Two postings were on offer the night it arrived:

• A 1,000-credit cargo run to Peric IV D (the export writes “Perak 4D”), a moon of a failed star known for violent weather swings and low-stakes opportunities.
• A 5,000-credit contract to Betelgeuse II (the export writes “Betelgeuse 2”), a high-end ocean world with underwater settlements. The job requires two armed guards to travel aboard the ship with the cargo.
