Overview

A seasoned, older worker at The Silk Abbey and the station manager’s favourite before Brianna Melvin — which makes her the one person still working who knew the arrangement from the inside and lived through being replaced by it. Samina Ventura pointed her out to the crew unprompted, noting she had been called up to Wilton Agramunt’s private quarters twice since Brianna disappeared.

What she described of those visits was not what anyone expected. Agramunt did not want company. He sat and wept over a photograph of Brianna for hours at a stretch, barely acknowledging Kate was in the room. She reported it flatly, with the professional detachment of someone long practised at reading a room and saying only what is useful.

Motivations & Secrets

She agreed to Shackleton Magellan’s proposition — federal credits to ensure she was the one called up next rather than another worker, plus a small signal device to use only if she genuinely felt threatened. She took the money and the device without visible hesitation and without asking what the crew were really investigating.

Appearances

• Session 5 (Session 05 - Hostile Takeover) — Introduced by Samina Ventura at The Silk Abbey during the crew’s patrol-rotation visit. Shackleton Magellan sat with her and laid out what he suspected — that Brianna Melvin was likely dead, and that whoever had been in Room 2002 with the station manager and his investor was responsible. She confirmed Agramunt’s behaviour in his quarters and accepted the informant arrangement. Later the same session she was found unconscious, face down on the floor of Wilton Agramunt’s private residence, in the room where Agramunt lay dead of a blaster wound. The crew were mid-arrest, the coup broke over the comms moments later, and they left the station without her. Whether she was alive when they fled, who struck her down, and whether she ever used the signal device are all unrecorded.
