Kinetic Logistics Compound
Overview
A large, illegally established base on the surface of restricted Thides III, roughly five miles from Relay Station 11 and glowing with the same yellow diffuser light as the relay platforms — the EM-shield that lets people work on a world whose wildlife hunts by electromagnetic signature. The crew found it by telescope from the sabotaged relay platform and reached it on foot through the jungle.
Inside a manually cleared area, ringed by a six-foot metal bar fence and a perimeter of diffusers, sit two landing pads, a warehouse, and a command building. On the night the crew arrived, some fifty to sixty people were hand-loading cargo from an older, heavily modified vessel and from the warehouse onto a newer ship bearing the Kinetic Logistics logo. Six watched a hyperspace vortex open close to the atmosphere and drop a ship straight into the compound without tripping a single satellite sensor. Most tellingly, Daniela Akkermans — leader of the Akker Cartel — watched the jungle from the command building’s second floor, tying the cartel that had shadowed the crew directly to this operation.
The crew hit it: an EMP on the main gate, timed to the returning cartel ATV, dropped the command center, the Kinetic Logistics ship, and the perimeter diffusers in a cascade, and the party stole the older transport — a hull carrying alien navigation tech, illegal vortex engines, a hold of alien “bricks,” and a captured technician — and flew out under fire.
Points of Interest
- Two landing pads — held the older modified transport (stolen by the crew) and the newer Kinetic Logistics cargo ship (disabled by the EMP).
- Warehouse — cargo being transferred out onto the Kinetic Logistics ship.
- Command building — two floors; Daniela Akkermans’s vantage; a rooftop heavy weapon (dead after the EMP).
- Perimeter — six-foot metal bar fence and a ring of EM diffusers masking the base from the wildlife; a main gate.
Appearances
- Session 3 (Session 03 - Buckle Up Motherfuckers) — Discovered, scouted, and raided. The crew stole the older transport and took a prisoner; the compound was left in an EMP-induced blackout with its diffusers failing, its defenders firing small arms uselessly after the escaping ship.
Relationships
- Part of Thides III — Built illegally on the restricted world's surface, hidden by its EM-hazard perimeter.
