Thides I

The innermost world: tidally locked, with extreme temperatures across a fixed day/night divide, mined to near collapse.

Overview

The innermost world: tidally locked, with extreme temperatures across a fixed day/night divide, mined to near collapse. This is the system’s visible past — the boom that already came and went, now worked by skeleton subcontractor crews picking over what’s left.

Points of Interest

Played-out deep shafts; camps clustered along the survivable terminator line; abandoned rigs.

Appearances

  • Session 1 (Session 01 - The Ragged Edge of Space) — Named and briefed by Chief Holger Graeme: a former mining world shut down about a decade ago over collapse risk, now under regular anti-scavenging patrols. The scavenger Thandeka Dahl and her ship the Beloved Valley have been caught near it more than once. Not visited this session.

  • Session 5 (Session 05 - Hostile Takeover)Visited for the first time. The crew landed here on a Strider-class transport flown by Julija Borja, six hours out from MacMillian Station IV, to raid 07-Delta Station. Surface conditions as observed: no atmosphere, roughly 0.75 gravity, a wasteland of miles-deep mining pits, shattered automated machinery and asteroid-scarred terrain. The landing site sat in the dust zone of the terminator line, with the boundary between the boiling sunward face and the frozen dark side visible about a mile behind them. The low gravity made every step feel wrong. Borja’s briefing added a system-scale fact: the planet is mined so thoroughly that its structural integrity is a matter of ongoing concern for the entire system’s hyperspace lanes — extending the Session 1 canon of a collapse-risk shutdown into something with navigational consequences.

mobRPG (canon import)

A rocky world, close to the system star, with no atmosphere. It is tidal locked, where the one side is warmed to temperatures that would boil water, while the other would freeze. The planet is made mostly of nickel and silicon with a lesser mix of other elements, primarily a source of lithium. The planet has mostly been mined out where it’s gravity and structure started to break down, causing concern about the structure of the planet. Wildcatters and scavengers continue to mine out the few remaining deposits, with a hope that they don’t cause the planet collapse.
