The Room 2002 Cover-Up

Overview

A private party at the Royale Hotel, hosted by station manager Wilton Agramunt for visiting financier Peter Goodwin, after which the courtesan Brianna Melvin was never recorded leaving the suite. Three days later Samina Ventura hired the crew to find her, and what they found instead was the shape of a professional cleanup — and, by the time they reported back, a second disappearance.

This is Chapter 1 - The Far Dark’s theme in its purest form so far: the crew assemble an unmistakable picture and hold nothing that proves any part of it.

What Happened

• Brianna Melvin and several other The Silk Abbey women arrived at the Royale Hotel with two men and went up to Room 2002, a twentieth-floor suite. Hours later the other women left. Brianna did not appear on any camera leaving.
• The women were dismissed; Brianna was specifically asked to stay behind — a request McKenna and her colleagues described as routine, happening once or twice a month, and normally ending with Brianna back at work within a couple of days.
• Solveig Kaufer arrived at the room, then left it in company with Peter Goodwin and Wilton Agramunt. Goodwin and Agramunt headed toward The Silk Abbey; Kaufer took a brief communication and went a different way.
• A human cleaning crew — not the station’s standard cleaning robotics — entered the suite and worked inside it for thirty to forty-five minutes before departing. Shackleton Magellan recognised one of them from a security scan months earlier as Hildebrand Panza, a man whose military record scanned redacted. Six went further and placed him: Panza was one of the men who cleared Security Gate 1 alongside Daniela Akkermans during the crew’s first shift in Session 1, all of them carrying honorable-discharge Federal Marine papers over blacked-out service records. Six reported the identification to Julija Borja.
• A maintenance worker opened a corridor wall panel afterwards and left quickly. The panel outside Room 2002 was later found with a screw missing; the wiring behind it showed no recent tampering.
• The camera coverage was managed. The elevator cameras went dark five to ten minutes before the cleaning crew arrived and stayed offline for about an hour after they left. The cameras on both of the hotel’s basement levels were also non-functional.
• Searching the suite on Holger Graeme’s authorisation, the crew found the left bedroom stripped and reeking of ammonia and cleaning agents, with Brianna’s Earring wedged behind the headboard — the one thing the cleaners missed. The right bedroom was untouched and held Róbert’s Engraved Watch and three Goodwin Investments business cards, marking it as Peter Goodwin’s.
• In the basements: the trash chutes’ biological sensors had never triggered, making disposal down the chutes unlikely; the cleaning droids retain no long-term memory of their tasks; and the bedding running through the laundry did not match the suite’s high-end linens — the original sheets never reached the laundry at all.
• Pia Kadyrov independently identified the anomaly on sight: station hotels use robotics for that work. A human crew makes no sense unless someone needed people who could be told what to do.
• Reporting to Samina Ventura, the crew learned that Wilton Agramunt has not been seen since the previous day, last observed speaking with Ajeet Siegel. Ventura concluded Brianna is dead or permanently gone, paid the crew 200 physical federal credits each, and offered double for proof of Peter Goodwin’s involvement — for leverage, not for justice.

Outcome

• Brianna Melvin — missing, presumed dead or permanently gone. No body, no proof.
• Wilton Agramunt — missing as of the crew’s report, whereabouts unknown.
• The crew hold: one earring, one engraved watch, three business cards, a name (Hildebrand Panza), a camera-outage timeline, and a laundry discrepancy. Nothing that compels anyone to act.
• The cover-up crew is tied to the Akker Cartel. Six’s identification of Hildebrand Panza joins the station-crime thread to the Kinetic Logistics thread on the crew’s own testimony. It is an identification, not proof of employment.
• Pia Kadyrov is researching Hildebrand Panza on the crew’s behalf, in trade — and had already been pressured by Solveig Kaufer into dropping reporting on Wilton Agramunt’s private life.
• Samina Ventura’s doubled fee for proof against Peter Goodwin is live and unclaimed.
