Solveig Kaufer

Solveig Kaufer

Role Member of MacMillian Mining and Extraction Corporation Status alive
Assistant to the Station Manager of MacMillian IV, she is the main person running the station as her boss Wilton offloaded his work on her to add to her work total.

Overview

Assistant to the Station Manager of MacMillian IV, she is the main person running the station as her boss Wilton offloaded his work on her to add to her work total. Because of this overt trust by Wilton, Solveig is given a free hand running the station. While she might be the ultimate power of the station, she has gone out of her way to run the station efficiently and fairly. All actions appear reasoned and justified, and bringing no rebuke from corporate or the feds.

Motivations & Secrets

Appearances

  • Session 1 (Session 01 - The Ragged Edge of Space)Solveig Kaufer introduced herself to the crew in Conference Room A as General Secretary and assistant to Wilton Agramunt, then ran their orientation and station tour with precise, by-the-book thoroughness, issuing each a MacMillian company card and noting security was at roughly half strength (52 of 106). As she left, she was overheard phoning Holger Graeme to report protocol violations — the list of infractions Six had handed her on his way in. The crew later saw her at The Silk Abbey, visibly frustrated, chasing Agramunt for signatures he gave without looking.

  • Session 2 (Session 02 - The MacMillian Anomaly)Shackleton Magellan spotted her sitting at a careful distance from the station manager and Peter Goodwin at The Silk Abbey, quietly taking far more detailed notes than a casual observer would need. She later co-ran the crew’s formal debrief with Holger Graeme after the Processing II incident, noted that station sensors had recorded a “vortex” event, and ordered the recovered alien samples sent to Zigurds Sloan for analysis while confining the crew to quarters.

  • Session 4 (Session 04 - The Case of the Missing Courtesan) — Collected the crew’s preliminary report in the station security conference room on their return from Thides III, ahead of Holger Graeme’s arrival, and received a copy of Six’s Mission Report. More significantly, she appears on the Royale Hotel security footage: she arrived at Room 2002 after the party and left it with Peter Goodwin and Wilton Agramunt, the two men heading toward The Silk Abbey while she took a brief communication and went a different way — before the human cleaning crew arrived and the cameras went dark. The confrontation between Julija Borja and Holger Graeme that the crew overheard through the office wall put more of her on the record than any scene she appeared in. Graeme stated that when he had previously tried to report around the station manager directly to the Marshal Service, Kaufer had threatened his position — the reason a federal officer had been kept ignorant of station business for years. She is also recorded as having pressured Pia Kadyrov into suppressing reports about the station manager’s private life. Taken together with the footage, she is the station-side constant: she controls Graeme’s reporting line, she leans on the local press, and she was in Room 2002 on the night in question. See The Room 2002 Cover-Up.

  • Session 5 (Session 05 - Hostile Takeover) — Never seen in person, and the most consequential voice of the session. While the crew stood over Wilton Agramunt’s body in his private residence, Kaufer’s voice came over station-wide comms — calm and authoritative — announcing that MacMillian had been acquired by Pratrock Dynamics and ordering all personnel to their quarters. Kinetic Logistics drop ships were attaching to the hull as she spoke. Holger Graeme, freed later from his own locked security office, told the crew the station was under total lockdown by Kaufer and Kinetic Logistics, with the gate controlled and all ships grounded. Earlier in the session the crew had discussed her role directly: with the station manager absent and orders still being issued in his name, Six flagged the arrangement as a significant lead.

The strongest player-side read yet

She was in Room 2002; she threatened Holger Graeme’s job over the reporting chain; she pressured Pia Kadyrov off the station manager’s private life; and she is the voice that declared the takeover and the lockdown. From the crew’s side this is as close to naming the inside hand as they have come — and it is still circumstance, not proof.
