Processing II
Overview
The second of MacMillian Station IV’s four processing plants, mothballed and sealed off entirely — every sensor and camera in the sector reads offline, and access requires a maintenance chief to physically cut the blast door open. Under ordinary circumstances the crew would have no reason to set foot here.
On Session 2, a faint illegal broadcast signal traced to the sector pulled Six, Rock Lavey, Ronin Sanchez, and Shackleton Magellan out of bed at four in the morning. Security Chief Holger Graeme briefed them and sent them down to meet Maintenance Chief Zigurds Sloan at the sealed entrance.
Zigurds Sloan cut through the welds on the blast door with a torch — and the cut revealed that the door had been resealed multiple times before, the previous welds disguised to look original. Someone had been moving in and out of a sector that was supposed to be completely locked down, repeatedly, and carefully enough that no one had noticed. Zigurds Sloan restored local power from a side maintenance room, and the lights flickered on down a long, cold corridor with stale but breathable air and no heat signatures ahead.
Points of Interest
- Main Line corridor (Processing II) — The plant’s own long industrial corridor, the counterpart to The Main Line in Processing I, where materials were once processed and moved toward the docking bays. It remains in noticeably better condition than its Processing I counterpart — no squatters, no scavenger damage — but is covered in a thin layer of grime and dust, with some access panels stripped of wiring. The crew descended a stairwell and used a security card to pass through a locked door into this stretch.
- Control Room — An elevated monitoring station overlooking the cargo transfer area below, with terminals for container locks, security doors, and external cameras. Shackleton Magellan used a password from Zigurds Sloan to access the terminal here and discovered that three of the loading bay’s four cargo slots stood empty — the fourth held a single crate. He returned to this room during the container’s breakaway to monitor the situation on the external cameras, where he discovered every drone in the sector had been disabled remotely.
- Break Room — A small room for station workers that became an improvised pressurized refuge for Rock Lavey and Ronin Sanchez, who sealed themselves inside when the depressurization alarms sounded.
- Cargo / Loading Bay — A cavernous space where cargo containers were once packed and shipped out to the docks. Shackleton Magellan spotted faint footprints in the dust leading from the stairwell to one specific container — a crate marked “Kinetic Logistics,” the only one of four slots showing recent use. Opening it revealed equipment split down the middle: one side standard human communication racks and wiring, the other side technology that appeared melded organically into the container wall, covered in unrecognizable symbols, with a countdown timer running under the label “Kinetic Logistics.” The container then began sliding out of its slot under its own power, pulled by an external drone, triggering depressurization alarms before Six leapt the widening gap and rode it out into open space. The crew recovered him afterward through the airlock; the container itself vanished in a flash of light that station sensors logged as a vortex event, moments after the countdown reached zero.
Appearances
- Session 2 (Session 02 - The MacMillian Anomaly) — Zigurds Sloan breached the covertly resealed blast door for Six, Rock Lavey, Ronin Sanchez, and Shackleton Magellan, who traced an illegal signal to a rigged cargo container in the Loading Bay. The container was pulled into space by an unauthorized drone while every drone in the sector had been disabled; Six rode it out, severed the relay inside with his vibro-axe, carved free two chunks of the self-healing alien material, and escaped on suit thrusters as the container vanished in a recorded vortex event. The crew was confined to quarters afterward pending debriefing with Holger Graeme and Solveig Kaufer.
